Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) is an essential approach for improving health services in the fight against malaria and other infectious diseases. CLM empowers communities to collect and analyze data on the availability, quality, and accessibility of health services, providing a direct role in monitoring and evaluation local health interventions. This grassroots engagement allows for real-time identification of service gaps, challenges health rights issues and barriers to care, particularly for the most vulnerable populations.
CLM is designed to support the local health authorities to identify progress and gaps and co-design approaches to continually improve service delivery. By amplifying community voices, CLM helps ensure that health services are aligned with local needs, enhancing the effectiveness of disease control efforts and accelerating progress toward eliminating and preventing reestablishment of diseases like malaria. CLM also strengthens advocacy efforts, leading to more informed policies, health equity and inclusiveness and sustained improvements in health service delivery.
