Initially focused on malaria in the five Mekong countries, the CSO Platform expanded its scope in 2022 to cover additional infectious diseases and broader regional priorities across ASEAN countries. This includes addressing climate and health issues, promoting the One Health approach, and advancing Community-Led Monitoring (CLM), Gender Equity, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), and the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH). The Platform works closely with Civil Society organizations, Community networks, National and local health authorities, migrants and their networks, organizations of people living with disabilities, development partners and other regional and international organizations and networks. It plays a crucial role in fostering collaboration between CSOs and other key stakeholders, enhancing their capacities, and providing technical support in program design and advocacy.

The CSO Platform, formerly known as the Malaria Free Mekong, is a network of over 60 communities and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from the Mekong subregion. Established in 2014 with the support of the Global Fund's Regional Artemisinin Initiative Grant, the platform spans Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Currently funded by the Global Fund under the Regional Artemisinin Initiative for Elimination (RAI4E) regional component, the CSO Platform serves as the community and civil society engagement mechanism for the Regional Steering Committee (RSC) of the Global Fund RAI4E grant. It is governed by a steering committee and guided by expert advisers. The platform is hosted by ALIGHT and is based in Thailand.
